Works related to the New Woman

The New Woman was a term that emerged in the late nineteenth century for women who were less constrained by conventional (Victorian) gender roles and norms.  The New Woman was a feminist ideal that involved the pursuit of independence (in particular sexual autonomy), and becoming more visible, active participants in the workforce and public sphere.
