Works related to the Flaneur

The flaneur is a popular figure in modernist art who strolls or wanders through cities (from the French noun flâneur, which means “stroller”, “lounger”, or “saunterer”).  The increased prominence of the flaneur figure at the turn of the twentieth century speaks to the growth of urban environments and the belief that these new cityscapes are spaces to be explored and experienced.
