He, along with Wyndham Lewis, was a leader of the vorticist movement, a mode of artistic expression that has its roots in\u00a0imagism. As implied by its name, the aim of imagism is to convey clear images without requiring embellishment. This work in particular provides interesting parallels with Pound\u2019s writing style; it is a simple sketch, with no color or elaborate designs to distract from the form.\u00a0The forceful, striking lines in <em>Portrait of Ezra Pound<\/em>\u00a0mirror the short, impactful, and oftentimes harsh phrases that can be found in Pound&#8217;s literary works &#8212; and also work to emphasize the influence of futurism on Lewis&#8217;s work, despite Lewis&#8217;s detestation of being associated with futurist ideology.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>\n<div class=\"flex_column av_one_third  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-5  el_after_av_two_third  el_before_av_one_third  column-top-margin\" style='border-radius:0px; '><p><div  class='avia-video avia-video-16-9   av-lazyload-immediate  av-lazyload-video-embed  '   itemprop=\"video\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/VideoObject\"  data-original_url='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JtT9bCzpjDc' ><script type='text\/html' class='av-video-tmpl'><div class='avia-iframe-wrap'><iframe width=\"1500\" height=\"844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JtT9bCzpjDc?feature=oembed&autoplay=0&loop=0&controls=1&mute=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div><\/script><div class='av-click-to-play-overlay'><div class=\"avia_playpause_icon\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Pound has written that &#8220;The idea that music and poetry can be separated is an idea current in ages of degradation and decadence when both arts are in the hands of lazy imbeciles.&#8221; His little-known musical output features unharmonized music, with sounds coming into play at random and arguably rendering the music in itself almost meaningless.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"flex_column av_one_third  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding   avia-builder-el-8  el_after_av_one_third  el_before_av_one_third  column-top-margin\" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><em>\u201cIt has been your HABIT for long to do away with true poets, <\/em><br \/>\n<em>You either drive them mad, or else you blink at their suicides, <\/em><br \/>\n<em>Or else you condone their drugs, and talk of insanity and genius, <\/em><br \/>\n<em>BUT I will not go mad to please you.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 I will not FLATTER you with an early death. <\/em><br \/>\n<em>OH, NO !
